Daniel Kravitz the owner of Pro-Pak, Inc., a Northbrook-based packer and shipper of artwork and antiquities, recently handled a unique order. Pro-Pak was contracted by artist Susan Fraerman of Highland Park, the wife of Kravitz’s former orthopedic surgeon, who was participating in an art exhibit by the Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
“Wounded In Action”, celebrated members of the military who have had limb injuries and also recognized orthopedic surgeons.
Fraerman made the exhibit sculpture from a box that housed World War II ammunition shells and included the hands of a wounded soldier reaching out.
Due to the unusual shape and fragile nature of the work of art and fact that it would need to be packed and repacked numerous times, a special design was involved.
The inner enclosure was created to be lifted easily by two people from the outside container. Photographs were laminated to the inside of the container to ensure proper installation of the artwork and re-packaging.
