Don't overpack. Mom or Dad can always ship
"care packages" to you.
Remember, save all of your packing
materials and boxes so you can ship your belongings back home at the
end of the year.
Find out ahead of time exactly where at
school you are to send your belongings (for example, dormitory,
school post office, gymnasium, etc.), and confirm this with the
school, as all schools are different.
Take your computer, if you have one. It is
often difficult to get computer time at a school's facilities.
Consult with your roommates ahead of time
so that you don't bring the same stuff to share (for example: TV,
stereo, refrigerator, etc.). Duplicating items like these takes up
valuable space.
Consult with your local library and your
college counselor for suggested reading material on going off to
college.
Do Not take chances with expensive or
fragile items, take them to a professional packer.
